At the 5th of February meeting Ben showed us a stunning Mimeo photo book he created and we talked about recent Apple news. This meeting also featured SEAL’s AGM.
AGM
During the AGM portion of the meeting, the Chairman and Treasurer gave reports on the club’s activities and finances during 2020. We then held the committee election which resulted in the existing committee Ben, DavidK, Mick and Robert being re-elected. Thanks to all the committee members for standing and for their service during the last year. We also had a useful discussion about plans for the coming year.
Photo Book
Ben showed us a photo book he created with impressive and beautiful photos taken with his drone. Ben used the Mimeo photo Apple Photos extension to produce the book. Mimeo previously provided photo print products for Apple.
News
We discussed Apple news from the last few weeks:
- Adobe ends Flash support and recommends uninstalling.
- Cross-app tracking prompts begin to appear in iOS 14.
- Apple publishes “A Day in the Life of Your Data” explaining how data is collected by apps and websites and the privacy features of Apple products.
- Apple Fitness+ now available.
- The Apple Weather app now features next hour precipitation in the UK.
- Apple released an iCloud passwords extension for Chrome on Windows (allowing access to Safari passwords):

- DavidB recommended the Apple TV+ documentary A letter to you about Bruce Springsteen.
- David also mentioned an upcoming iOS 14.5 feature to make it easier unlock when wearing a mask.
- Denesh pointed out that iOS 14.5 is expected to add support for 5G in dual SIM mode.
- Denesh had tried the Apple Fitness+ feature Time to Walk.
- DavidK talked about the gardens and sculpture park at Barnards Farm.
