At the October meeting, held on the 13th, we talked about Apple’s announcements from the September Special Event including the iPhone X, iPhone 8, Apple watch series 3 and Apple tv 4K.
Apple September Special Event
This year Apple held their regular September special event at the Steve Jobs Theatre (at the new Apple Park headquarters) for the first time. During the presentation Apple celebrated ten years of the iPhone and introduced several new products:
- iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- Apple watch Series 3
- Apple tv 4K
- AirPower wireless charger
We talked about the announcements, the details of the products and what we were looking forward to.
ARKit
With the release of iOS 11 augmented reality (AR) apps using ARKit are now available in the app store. Ben showed us Miaow which lets you play with a cute AR cat and DaveK recommended this video which gives a preview of some of the first AR apps:
