Our 7th of April meeting was an informal discussion of Apple topics brought up by members and recent Apple news.
Apple News
We discussed recent Apple news including:
- WWDC is scheduled for the 5th to the 9th of June and continues to be a largely online event at no extra cost to developers.
- Google and Mozilla (makers of Firefox) are working on iOS browsers using their own engines (which is currently not allowed by Apple).
- Thieves steal $500K of iPhones from an Apple Store by cutting a hole in the wall of an adjacent toilet.
- iOS 16.4.1, iPadOS 16.4.1 and macOS 13.3.1 have been released.
- The unofficial Landmarks iOS app highlights custom detailed 3D landmarks from Apple Maps.
App Development Update
DaveK showed us his progress on the iOS app he’s currently developing. You can find details of Dave’s currently available Mac and iOS apps on the Zenopolis web site.

- Robert had been investigating Motion, Apple’s motion graphics application that works alongside Final Cut Pro.
- DavidK asked about the differences between AirPods models and the new features added to AirPods Pro for the second generation.
- He also mentioned Electrostatic in-ear headphones. For example Audio Sanctuary have some available.
- DaveK pointed out the recent news that Genesis Market, a marketplace for stolen on-line credentials and personal information, has been taken down. The National Crime Agency have details and advice on their site. Their article links to the Check Your Hack service run by the the Dutch National Police which allows people to identify if their data has been compromised.
- DaveK mentioned the discovery that a PDF of the Bitcoin whitepaper has been found to be included in every modern copy of macOS.
- Ann-Kay mentioned reproducing pianos and specifically Rachmaninov performances recorded on the Ampico system. These are available on CD and via Apple Music.
- This lead to a discussion of the development of punched cards including for Jacquard looms and data processing.
