At this meeting, held on October 28th, we discussed Apple’s recent announcements of new iPads and Apple TV, talked about storage options for Time Machine backups and members shared a number of topics.
Apple Announcements
We talked about the recent announcements of the 10th generation iPad, M2 iPad Pro and the upgraded Apple TV 4K. Apple have a video showcasing the new iPads.
Time Machine
DavidB is using an AirPort Time Capsule to backup his Mac using Time Machine, he asked about options for storage devices when it needs replacement.
Robert had looked into the available options including:
- Using an external hard drive connected via USB, Thunderbolt or Firewire.
- Network attached storage supporting Time Machine including devices from Synology and QNAP.
- Network hard drives such as the Western Digital My Cloud.
- Setting up another Mac as a Time Machine destination.
- Routers with the option to connect a USB hard drive compatible with Time Machine, such as this model from ASUS.

- The redesigned icloud.com website, currently available as a beta test.
- Additional advertising placements in the App Store.
- Price increases on Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Apple One subscriptions.
- The upcoming Apple TV film The Boy, the Fox, and the Horse where Jony Ive is a producer.
- iPhone 14 car crash detection being triggered on roller coaster rides.
